Notarization is important for your documents to have recognition and validity for use abroad as well as locally.  It is often required when certified true copies must be submitted to conduct transactions.  Depending on the foreign country/embassy/ consulate requirements, documents must also be apostilled in addition to being notarized.  Although having your documents notarized may seem trivial, it plays a crucial role in combating identity theft.
